Well, it seems that I’ve never met an All About Spelling product that I didn’t like.  First, I was able to review their incredible spelling program with which I have absolutely fallen in love.  I wish I’d had the spelling program when Brianna was younger.  It’s one of the best I’ve seen, with its hands-on, multi-sensory approach based on Orton-Gillingham principals.  Then, there was the Beehive Reader (which has a new name:  Cobweb the Cat) which correlates perfectly with All About Spelling Level 1.

Now, there’s a brand-new reader that was slated to be available on April 1 on All About Spelling’s brand-new website, All About Reading.  The What Am I? reader is another beautifully-illustrated, hardback book that correlates with lessons 1-14 of the Level 2 spelling program.

With ten fully-illustrated longer stories that reinforce what your child is learning in his All About Spelling curriculum, the same glare-free pages as the Beehive Reader, and a compact size the fits comfortably in the hands of young readers, What Am I? is the perfect complement to the Level 2 workbook.  Like the Beehive Reader Cobweb the Cat, What Am I? lays flat for easy reading, as well.

I love what the folks at All About Spelling — and now, All About Reading — are doing with their curriculum offerings.  I’ve never seen a spelling program that so thoroughly reinforces all the phonics instruction a beginning reader is receiving through a typical phonics-based approach reading curriculum, then, further cements that instruction with quality readers that follow the scope and sequence of the spelling program.  This combination serves to give a young reader confidence as he reads words with which he has become familiar through spelling.

What Am I? is available for $19.95 on the All About Reading site.
