Are you homeschooling a high schooler or a child who will be a high schooler in the next three years or so?  I started planning for high school when Brianna was in the 6th grade.  I knew it would be here sooner than I was ready and I wanted to be prepared.  I’ve discovered a lot of great resources in the last three or four years and one of them is Lee Binz’s Total Transcript Solution.

Lee, probably better known as The HomeScholar, graduated her two sons from their family’s homeschool and the boys both earned full-tuition scholarships from their first choice universities using Lee’s “mommy made” transcripts.  Now, Lee spends her time helping other homeschool parents navigate the high school years through her blog, e-books, and webinars.  You may recall that I hosted one of Lee’s webinars back in May.  In case you missed it, you can now receive the recorded version as one of Lee’s blog freebies.

Lee sent me all of the download files that come with Total Transcript Solution and a one month trial of Lee’s Silver Training Club to review.  Wow!  Lee provides a wealth of information.  The 100+ page e-book, The Easy Truth About High School Transcripts, is like a written version of the webinar, that you can read through and savor, catching all those little nuances you missed while listening and furiously scribbling notes (or maybe that was just me).  Topics covered include:

  • Why it’s important to make a homeschool transcript
  • How to make a transcript
  • How to assign grades
  • How to determine and calculate high school credit
  • How to include delight directed learning

I found Lee’s practical, straight-forward tips to be very reassuring.  She answered all of the homeschooling high school questions that I had on my mind when I began the book.  I’m sure there are more questions that will pop up as we go along…and it wouldn’t surprise me to find the answers when I go back and reread the book.

Lee knows that parents, as well as our students, have a variety of learning styles, so when you buy Total Transcript Solution, you’ll receive several audio files, which cover the same basic information as the e-book, but in audio form.  These are great for when you’re doing some of those mundane preparations for school, such as copying, cutting, or filing.

You also receive a multitude of transcript forms in both Microsoft Word and Excel documents.  There are many different styles available, so it’s easy to find one to suit your family’s particular needs.  Because they are in Word and Excel, it’s easy to customize the forms with your student’s information, so that you can produce a professional looking transcript.

You’ll also be able to download several PDF files that cover topics such sample grading criteria and college planning guides for each of the four years of high school, so that you can easily plan for high school whether you’re starting your planning during your child’s freshman, senior year, or anything in between.

Finally, there is the one month trial of the Silver Training Club, which gives you access to the membership area of The HomeScholar website.  In the membership area, you’ll find new audio and video files each month, downloads and support materials.  In addition, you’ll be entitled to one twenty minute phone consultation a week with Lee for a full month.  This is your opportunity to talk to Lee one-on-one about your specific questions and concerns.  If you decide to continue the Silver Training Club after your one month trial, you can do so for $27 per month.

Total Transcript Solution, which includes several bonuses detailed on the order page, is available for just $47 and it comes with a 60-day money back guarantee, so you really can’t go wrong.  I’ve been very pleased with all I’ve learned and feel much more prepared for homeschooling high school and creating a transcript that will showcase my daughter’s achievements and prove acceptable to potential college admissions office.

I received this product free for the purpose of reviewing it.  I received no other compensation for this review.  The opinions expressed in this review are my personal, honest opinions.  Your experience may vary.  I am an affiliate of Total Transcript Solution and will receive a commission on all purchases made through the links in this blog post.

  1. i really should be visiting lee binz' site more often now that we've decided to keep spaz home for at least 9th grade and quite possibly beyond. the only problem i have with the homescholar site is that it's hard!! to get beyond!!! all!!! the marketing!!!! hype!!!! to actually read what she has to say. or maybe that's just me. i have heard that her stuff is really good, though.

fortunately, we have someone in our own local homeschool community who is really good with the homeschooling-high-school stuff and gives seminars and would probably even do a personal consultation with me if i asked her. (now if only i could actually *find* my notes from the seminar…)
