It’s rare that I find a product that I love well enough to blog about…especially a cleaning product, but this is one of them: Bar Keeper’s Friend.

A few years ago, someone recommended it for cleaning my tub. It seemed that, no matter what product I used or how hard I scrubbed, nothing would get my tub really clean. Bar Keeper’s Friend worked wonders! I still hate cleaning the tub, but if I’m going to have to do it, I would at least like it to look like I put all the effort into it that I did. With this product, it does.

Then, someone in my homeschool group mentioned using it for glass-top stoves. I was a little skeptical, at first, since everything in the care kit talks about being so careful with the stove top. Again, Bar Keeper’s Friend works wonders — and it’s much cheaper than that cream cleaner they sell for the stove tops. I simply use one of those “scratch-free” scrubbing sponges, wet it and put a little of the cleaner on it. It’s great for getting off stubborn cooking spills.

Bar Keeper’s Friend definitely works for me (and, no, this is not a paid advertisement…I really love the product). Visit Shannon at Rocks in My Dryer for more Works for Me Wednesday tips.

  1. I’ve not heard of this before. Is it similar to comet? I’ll have to see if I can find it locally. Thanks for telling us about it.

  2. This is the product that was recommended by my kitchen counter installers – but now I think I’m going to try the sample they gave me on my nasty, uncleanable tub!

  3. I’ve never heard of this – but, anything that will clean my grimy tub AND my glass top stove, it’s definitely worth looking for!

    Thanks for the tip.

  4. I just buy it where I buy everything else, it seems…Walmart! I had never heard of it either, but I’ve never had any trouble finding it there.

And, yes, it is like Comet.

  5. I love that stuff!! It really is awesome. We used to live in a super old house and the kitchen sink looked awful. Bar Keepers Friend really did make it look clean again!!

  6. Oh, I love this stuff too! My mom always used Bon Ami.. which is very similiar… but I we can’t seem to find it anymore and Bar Keeper’s Friend works just as well.

  7. I like this too. It’s my second favorite, just after Zud, which can be impossible to find at times. It’s like BKF…only better 🙂 lol

  8. I too love this product. I heard about it on and thought I would give it a try. It’s the only thing that got rust stains out of the potty. I found it at my grocery store next to the Comet.

  9. I love this for my stainless steel sinks, but I never thought about using it for my tub. I’ll give it a try.

My WFMW is up. Please stop by.

  10. My Grandmother introduced me to this produt years ago. It works wonder on hard water stains.

I have seen it in Family Dollar and Dollar General.
