If you do giveaways on your blog and you use a random number generator to select your winners, you probably know how tedious it can be to count all the comments to find the winner. I was thrilled, a couple of weeks ago, to find a hack for numbering comments in Blogger.

This easy-to-understand tutorial (no longer available) makes it simple to add the numbered comments feature. I’m so excited about doing my next giveaway, now! This simple blog tip definitely works for me.

  1. Oh my goodness, thank you! That will make things easier. Last time I had a giveaway I started a Word document and just typed in the names as the comments came in, numbering them of course. That wasn’t so bad, but I’m sure this is better!

  2. I have a WP blog, so I wonder if it’d work for me? I’ve always been jealous of the wonderful numbered comments that Pioneer Woman has.

As for Explode the Code that you asked about? I really don’t know what to say other that to tell you I’ve heard of other families having success with ETC with older children who had difficulty reading/spelling. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try, right?

  3. That is awesome! I don’t do many giveaways, but I always wondered how to get the comments numbered!

  4. AHA! That has been a pain (i write out a slip of paper for each entry- tedious!!). Good one- thanks Kris!

  5. I love knowing where to go for new blog info. It’s such a fun learning process, and I am relatively new at it! Thanks.

  6. Rock on! I may have to give this one a try. It is such a huge pain when I have had contests with something crazy like 500+ entries.

    Thanks for the tip!
