Have you seen those new clone trooper masks? The voice-changer ones that cover a kid’s whole head? Josh has…and he’s been begging for one ever since.

A few weeks ago, my mom took Brianna out for a day of shopping, as a belated birthday gift. Josh told Nannie all about the mask, you know, just in case she felt the need to purchase a rather expensive consolation gift for those who didn’t get to go on the shopping trip. To no one except Josh’s surprise, Nannie didn’t come home with the $30 helmet.

For the next two or three weeks after that, he would say to me, each Thursday before we left to go have dinner at my sister’s, “Maybe Nannie brought that mask this week.” And, I would have to try to gently dash his hopes since buying random expensive gifts for one grandchild and not the others isn’t Nannie’s usual M.O.

Well, Thursday afternoon, Nannie called me on her way home from work. She wanted me to bring my camera because she had forgotten hers. After shopping three different stores, she found the very last clone trooper voice changer mask to be had in this area (at least until the Toys ‘R Us ad runs this weekend…they had them all in the back and wouldn’t sell them! Duh!) and she wanted to make sure she got a picture of Josh’s face when she gave it to him.

Do you know how hard it was to keep that a secret? I was so excited for him. And, he just so happened to decide to wear his bounty hunter costume (Boba Fett…well, actually, I guess it’s Jango Fett, but I have trouble remembering all the new Star Wars character names. I guess I’m old school.). Not exactly a storm trooper, but the closest thing he’s got. I’m guessing he’ll have full storm clone trooper regalia by Halloween.

Does he look excited to you? (His cousin was excited for him.)

Here’s the full effect:

Nannie now holds “best grandparent in the whole wide world” status. I guess the other grandparents will have to up the ante. (Yes, Dad, I’m kidding.)

Oh, one last thing before I go. I know that I rarely post pictures of Brian on my blog, so for those who may be wondering what my husband looks like, this is for you:

  3. hee hee, love the pic of Brian! And guess what? I have a storm trooper costume that I bought on clearance for 25c. It didn’t have a mask with it and my kids have left it languishing in my attic. If I can find it, it’s yours!!

  4. What a handsome husband. 🙂

Random presents for nothing in particular are the BEST! Happy nothing-in-particular day to Josh!
