Hi, friends! I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! Can you believe it’s time to put 2018 behind us and step into the new year? What are some of your homeschooling goals for 2019?

We want to help you meet them! I have a few goals in mind, but there’s one, in particular, I’m excited about because it involves YOU!

Do you struggle to get your kids writing? I know I do. What do you say we do something about that this year?

Introducing …

Monthly Writing Prompts for Weird Unsocialized Homeschoolers

Oh yes, we did! We even got fancy and made a printable calendar for you, too!

On the last Friday of each month (except for December because, you know, Christmas busyness and all) you can find a new list of writing prompts for your family here.

Writing has always been a struggle, and it’s challenging to motivate my son in this area. We have yet to find a writing program that clicks with him and, even though it’s hard to admit, writing often gets put to the side.

He’s getting older, and I know how much writing kids need in those high school and college years, so I want to do something to spark interest and get him going. I have a goal to write with him each day!

So, we’re starting a fresh journal and plan to work our way through the prompts with you.

Who’s in?

A few notes about using the prompts:

For us, this is going to be simple free writing. I won’t correct or grade the work at all. It’s simply journaling! I want my son to enjoy putting pen to paper and learning to get his thoughts down without worry or fear of messing up.

These prompts are to help us find some fun in writing with our kids! Written by Yours Truly {ahem}, I will try very hard to make them fun and original each month. Be sure to subscribe for updates, so you don’t miss a list!

We’d also love to hear how you and your kids are using the writing prompts, so be sure to share your stories and pics in our Facebook group.

Now, without further ado, I bring you our first official list of monthly writing prompts!

Her boys have had different experiences with homeschooling, but both have thrived in spite of her. Her oldest son transitioned from public school after fourth grade and her youngest is 100% homegrown, having never stepped foot in a traditional classroom. Now with one son in college and one working his way through high school, she is proof anyone can do this. She writes with humor and heart, peppered with occasional snark and sarcasm. When she is not writing or working you can find her with a good book in hand, snuggling her massive Pitbull fur baby, or making something yummy in the kitchen.
