First of all, I want to thank you all for the outpouring of support and encouragement! You’ll never know what it’s meant to me. I told my husband that if I’d realized the incredible amount of support available in the blogging community, I’d have done this months ago. I really think that knowing that others are making the journey with me or cheering me on is really going to have an unbelievable impact on my ability to see this thing through this time. Several times yesterday I found myself thinking, “I just need to do this thing this time and be done with it so I can live my life without worrying about or struggling with my weight.”
To that end, I have two goals that I’m focusing on this week:
First Goal: Drink lots of water and start weaning from the — oh, this is so hard to say — sweet tea. Ouch! Did you know that one of these bad boys (the cups, not the actual boys — because, seriously, when you’re 39, they’re both boys, no matter how attractive they might be) holds 40 oz. of liquid? Can you imagine the amount of sugar that is in 40 oz. of Coke or sweet tea?
I’m actually trying not to imagine because, up until this point, it was fairly common for me to drink half-a-gallon of sweet tea a day. Yeah, seriously. I’m trying to cut down to two glasses a day — one in the morning and one at lunch or dinner. I’m also trying to cut down on the amount of sugar I put in the tea. I’m going for at least two of those gianormous cups filled with water each day.
**Okay, I have to note that I’ve actually already abandoned the idea of the cups because they are so huge and the tops are so big. I wind up wearing as much as I’m drinking. However, my kids are already proving to be super-supportive and have risen to the challenge of emptying two 32 oz. Powerade bottles of their contents, so I can have them for water bottles. Martyrs my kids are.
Second Goal: Get moving! I’ve dug out and dusted off my pedometer and I’m going to shoot for 10,000 steps a day — which I will include at least 30 minutes on the treadmill, which, incidentally, has also been dusted off (literally!).
Have you set any goals for yourself this week?
