It’s time for another NSV Saturday — your chance to share those weight-loss victories that occurred somewhere besides the scale. Did you put on a smaller size jeans this week? Exercise every day? Eat more fruits and veggies? Share what’s made you proud of you this week.
My NSV occurred at the grocery store. Actually, it’s something I’ve been noticing the last couple of weeks. My shopping cart stays relatively empty as I go up and down the aisles — until I get to the produce section (and, lately, the dairy case). I’m so excited to see that I’ve been stocking up on more fruits, vegetables and yogurt than anything else. And, after last week when my kids polished off all the Granny Smith apples before I got a single one, most of the oranges (I think I got two) and the majority of the yogurt (I think I got two of those, too, maybe three), I made there were lots of fruits and veggies in my shopping cart this week.
This week’s count (and this is for one week):
- Twenty navel oranges
- 3 lbs. Fuji apples
- 2 lbs. Granny Smith apples
- 6 bananas
- 18 single-serving cartons of yogurt
- (1) 2 lb. carton of vanilla yogurt
- 4 lbs. carrots
- 2 heads of broccoli
That’s not even all of the produce, but all that I bought specifically for snacking. I’m not complaining, though. I’m very proud of the fact that my family, not just me, is eating so much healthier. I wish we’d made these changes years ago.
I can’t wait until this summer when we can enjoy strawberries, grapes (Megan would literally eat two or three pounds at a time if I’d let her), and watermelon. Yum! For now, though, we’re really enjoying our apples and oranges. Just take a look at what used to be my crisper drawer:
Thankfully, Wal-mart had the oranges on sale for $0.25 each. We probably should have bought more. So, what about you? What NSV did you enjoy this week?
