Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday, y’all! Did you have a fantastic week? It’s been a rather eventful one here. Some good. Some terrifying.

Last Saturday, for the second time in my life, I got one of the most terrifying calls a mom can get. “Mom, there’s a shooter in the mall. I’m okay. We’re in the back. I love you.”

Oh, y’all. Brian and I jumped in the car and headed to the mall. I seriously think every police officer in the city plus some from other cities and counties, plus fire trucks were at the mall.

The short version is that the police determined that there wasn’t an active shooter, though I’m not totally convinced about that. Regardless, when you think you’re (or your kid) hiding in a stockroom due to an active shooter situation, it’s a scary situation. I was glad to have my baby safe in the car with me.

I asked her to smile and this is what I got. I told her I hope she gives the wedding photographer real smiles. {grin}

Wednesday, we went to have Brianna’s wedding dress measured for alterations. It’s starting to seem way to real, y’all. She’s going to be a beautiful bride. Of course, I may be a little biased.

Thursday. Oh, my goodness. Thursday was such a busy day. I had some online work I had to get up and finish before lunch. After lunch, Brianna and I picked up my niece and headed to the church where Brianna is getting married.

We met my mom and step-mom for a walk-through to see the fellowship hall, the sanctuary, and the rooms where the girls and guys will be getting ready. Again, way too real.

And, a little stressful thinking about how much there still is to do and the fact that the wedding is next month. Granted, it’s at the end of the month, but still.

After that, I had to make a grocery store run, come home and make dessert for dinner at my mom’s, and put away the groceries (which also involved cleaning out the fridge a bit).

I’m ready for what should be a relatively quiet day at home. I hope.

Tomorrow, Brianna and I are going to a wedding resale event to see if we can find any goodies. It’s supposed to be decorations and such. I hope we can find some good deals on a few of the things that we still need.

What about you? Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?

    1. Yes, it’s happened to both girls. The first time, there was a confirmed active shooter with fatalities. It’s a scary world we live in.

  1. I am glad there was no danger – scary though! That moment when your heart jumps after you find out your children could be in danger is a horrible one!
I hope the wedding goes really well!!!

  2. Oh Goodness!!!! How scary for a momma! Have fun with the wedding plans and don’t dare procrastinate! And also, take some vitamins and elderberry to strengthen your own immune system. Now is the time, you can’t get sick! Stay away from the cooties mother of the bride!
I am new here, first time linking up to your WrapUp, I hope I am doing it right.
(Mom to 12, ages 30 down to 3! Four married, seven granchildren 7 down to 1! Nice to meet you!)

  3. Sounds like we’ve got kids getting married about the same time. And we’ve only just begun planning Luckily it is only going to be small and simple. Visa issues for the bride’s parents mean they have had to delay setting a date. The visas still haven’t appeared but based on assurances they’ll be here by the end of this month a date has been set. Just got to organise all the details – and hope the visas do appear as promised.
