Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday, y’all! How was your week? We’ve got the first week of the 2018-2019 school year under our belts. So far, so good, I suppose. I do feel like a bit of a terrible parent, though, since I totally forgot to make first-day-of-school pictures.

We started with a light schedule just to get back in the swing of things. Plus, Megan is working quite a bit now so we’re trying to figure out the best way to balance work and school to make sure that schoolwork is still taking a priority.

Sophie got a chance to play outside last weekend.

Brian had the week off. He wanted to get some work done around the house, and today we’re celebrating our 27th wedding anniversary! Being the exciting people that we are, we don’t have anything particularly special planned. Just spending the day together is enough for me.

I’ve made strides toward my walking goals this week. (See what I did there?) My goal was to walk at least 4 days each week, and I met that. I might need a better walking buddy, though. Belle likes to start our walks by zig-zagging in front of me.

Brianna’s ferret, Dobby

Then, she slows down drastically or stops completely when other people or dogs approach. On the return trip to the car, she drags me. I love her like crazy, but I need a nice, walk beside me and don’t act all kinds of crazy dog.

My eating habits have been better this week. I’ve cut down on the sugar in my tea by a quarter of a cup and it still tastes really sweet. That makes me think that when I drop the next quarter cup, I’ll be okay. I’ve also increased my water consumption, and made better food choices.

I had an article published in the latest edition of Homeschooling Today magazine!

Last Saturday, we traveled out of town to visit Brian’s grandmother for her birthday. It was just a day trip, and we were back home fairly early Saturday evening. However, I am such a homebody that I’m already excited about this Saturday because I don’t have to go anywhere. How sad is that?

  1. That’s me too lol my husband is out of town this weekend and I think “good, now I don’t have to leave the house” haha he always wants to be on the go. Of course I miss him but the kids and I are fine chilling at home.

  2. Happy Anniversary! You guys sound as exciting as us 😉 Congrats on the article as well!

I hope you find a good alt walking buddy! I take my daughter’s dog sometimes and he does the same thing… he has to stop and smell EVERYTHING! Can’t get that cardio going and his pace!

My hubby cut down on his sugar last year to try and drop some pre-diabetic numbers. We went from 2 cups per gallon down to 1/2 cup and we use organic unprocessed sugar (I buy it in bulk at Costco). It took a short bit but he adjusted and enjoys it just as much.

    1. I’ll have to check for that sugar at Costco. I can’t handle Stevia and stuff like that but I might be able to handle unprocessed, organic sugar.
