Happy Friday! It’s a special Friday for me – my husband and I have been married for 21 years today. Wow! It’s hard to believe that he’s put up with me that long. As my mom said today, I chose well.

Wedding Day

I didn’t know, way back then, exactly how well I’d chosen. I am thankful to God for bringing Brian and I together. Brian’s constant love, support, patience, and friendship is more than I deserve. I couldn’t have asked for a better husband and father to our children.

Okay, now, before I go on, there are several important things I need to let you know, just in case you’re one of those people whose eyes skim posts rather than reading every single word I write as if my words hold the key to all of life’s answers.

{ahem} Yeah, I know none of you think that, but it’s a writer’s fantasy, so let me think at least a couple of you do.

Important Stuff You Need to Know

Change in blog feed

First, last night, I  moved my blog’s feed from Feedburner to Feedblitz. If you read by email, the move should have been fairly seamless. I know that some of you are currently getting duplicate emails. If you would, please bear with me for a few days. I’m trying to find out if there is a way I can fix that behind-the-scenes or if it would be best for you just to unsubscribe from one of the email lists. If you wouldn’t mind waiting for a few days, I’ll try to either fix it or let you know what to do on your end by the end of next week. Thank you for your patience.

If you read by RSS feed (such as Google Reader), you should be getting a message in your feed reader, asking you to click a link to subscribe to the new feed. That’s all you have to do. Easy-peasy.

If you’re reading on my blog, you can subscribe by RSS feed or email by choosing your preferred option in my blog header.

Homeschool Stuff

Okay, I think that’s all the important stuff you need to know. Now, on to the homeschool stuff.

It’s been a pretty low-key week for us, which is exactly what I was going for. Even Brianna’s work cooperated to allow us a relaxing week. She’d told them that she could work more hours since we were off of school, but they didn’t schedule her all week until today. So, we’ve been able to enjoy a week at home with nothing we had to do.

Well, mostly. We did have two doctors’ appointments on Tuesday and some errands to run, but it was so nice to be able to schedule those things on our week off and not have to worry about getting school done around them. We made the day a little special by having lunch out. We were going to eat lunch with Brian, but one of the appointments went over, so we didn’t get to.

Because we’ve been off, Josh has been able to go to a local forge with his friend and his friend’s dad two days this week. That has been so cool! It’s really great to see Josh so enthusiastic about something and for him to have the opportunity to learn something that could someday be either a unique trade or a productive hobby.

Above are some of thing things he’s made. Since then, he’s made a couple more knives and “J” hooks. The things pictured above, he had some help with from his friend’s dad, but the things he’s been making lately have been his own work. I’ve been so incredibly impressed.

Other than that, I’ve done some planning this week for next week (okay, okay…more procrastinating than planning. I’ve got to get busy tomorrow), some behind-the-scenes online stuff, some housework, and some relaxing. What have you been up to?

  1. Happy anniversary! A great testimony to marriage!

My son was just saying he wanted to be an apprentice to a blacksmith! That’s neat that you guys found one close by!

    Have a good weekend.

  2. My nephew just turned 20 and he is a talented blacksmith. He writes a blog where he shares what he’s doing and how. It may be of interest. I’m on my iPad and I don’t know how to copy and paste 🙂 but the name of his blog is davesdiscourse.blogspot.com

And Happy Anniversary! I just found your blog a couple days ago and am really enjoying reading it!

  3. Okay first, CUTE wedding picture! And second, what a GREAT hobby your son is developing! We get to take a field trip to a large commercial steel foundry next week. I have no idea what to expect but I think the boys will think it’s really cool! I look forward to seeing what your some comes up with next! 🙂

  4. I will update my feed right now….that’s one of the reasons I hesitate to move….but, the forge sounds amazing and….of course, could not be possible without the amazing blessing of your Anniversary!!!!

    1. Yeah, the potential of losing subscribers was the huge obstacle to moving. However, I finally decided that with there no longer being any communication choices should anything go wrong with Feedburner and no recourse should Google decide to shut it down, it was in my and my readers’ best interests to go ahead and move. Moving email subscribers was simple and at least RSS subscribers are being provided with a link to move, so all they have to do it click and they’re set. Hopefully, everyone who wants to continue their subscription will be moved over without too much trouble in the next week or so.
