Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday, y’all! It’s hard to believe another Friday is here. How do the weeks pass so quickly? It’s been a pretty laid-back week which is just fine with me.

Brianna and Andrew came up to visit last weekend. She told me before they got married that they were going to visit every weekend. I didn’t really expect that to happen, but so far they have come up most weekends. It makes my mama heart happy.

I experienced a life-changing event on Sunday. I used Walmart’s pick-up service where you order your groceries online and pick them up at the store. It was fantastic!

I don’t know why I’ve resisted so long. Probably because I like to wander around the store and look while I’m getting groceries, which means shopping this way will probably save me money as well as time.

The Walmart near our church always seems to have a better selection and fresher produce, but it’s out of the way for me to shop there – unless I order online and pick up on the way home from church! That’s what I did last weekend, and I loved it. That basically frees up a whole other weekday for me at home. I can put that extra time to excellent use.

We discovered another course for Megan this week. Apologia has a new health and nutrition course that looks fantastic! Even Megan thought so. That’s saying a lot. We’ve got a lot of things that we’re really excited about for next year. It may be fun having just one student again.

The kitty brothers, Finn and Oliver, went to the vet to be neutered and get their last round of shots. I know that surgery is extremely common, but I always worry a bit because my mom and step-dad had a cat who got an infection and died after being neutered. He was a sweet boy who had personality for days.

So, you know, if you want to say a little prayer that the kitty brothers’ recovery will be uneventful, my feelings wouldn’t be hurt.

Do you have any big plans for July 4th? We have absolutely nothing planned.  Brian is supposed to be off so we might grill out at home. There are some excellent places to go for fireworks displays around town, but neither of us is crazy about the heat, the crowds, or the traffic jam when it’s time to leave.

We’re very exciting people.

Those are the highlights of my life week. What about you?

  1. Don’t you wish the Walmart/Kroger pick-up had been available when our kids were little? Can you even imagine what stress that would have relieved?? Also– I have enjoyed having just one at home. So much time to focus on HIM!

    1. Oh, I can’t even imagine! It would have been wonderful! I am looking forward to focusing on my only next year. I think it’s going to be a fun year!

  2. I have been using Walmart’s online ordering service for over a year and I agree it’s life changing! My kids are 5.5 and 3, not having to deal with carseats or weather has been amazing!

    1. I can’t imagine how fantastic ordering online must be for you. My kids are teens and I love it. lol

  3. Ooh, I’ll go one step further and share that a company recently became available in our area that does the shopping for you… then DELIVERS IT TO YOU! Yeah, I may be a little too excited, but I’m legally blind and don’t drive so this a huge game changer for me! Plus, I save money with no impulse buys 😁
They are called Instacart. No idea where all they are available, but it’s pretty awesome in my little town!

  4. We live in the middle of no where. There closest walmart is 45 miles away and they don’t offer pick up yet. I’m hoping they will soon as it would make my life sooo much easier!

  5. My Walmart just got it a few months ago and I’m in love! We rarely shopped there but pickup is so convenient so I do it 1-2 times a month.

Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the apologia. My kids are just 5 and 7 but I’m excited for it to be a possibility later on!
