Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday, y’all! I hope you’ve had a wonderful week. I said in a comment to someone last week that I was kind of hoping this week would be boring after the last couple.

It wasn’t boring, but it was a good kind of not boring. We did a thing.

We were most definitely not looking to “replace” Gus, but I was on Facebook Monday morning when I came across these guys. All the heart-eyes, y’all.

You know I have a weak spot for orange tabby cats. And, one of them looks so much like Gus in the face.

The lady who posted their picture said she fished them out of her apartment complex’s dumpster (seriously, how can people be so cruel??) on Easter Sunday. She’d been taking care of them ever since, but couldn’t keep them because she couldn’t afford her apartment’s pet deposit.

Yeah, we went and got them Tuesday. Both of them. Megan and I went. I told her on the way that I was already second-guessing myself. They weren’t Gus. They were kittens and we said we were going to look for an older cat when we were ready to get another one. And there were two of them.

Then, we got to the lady’s apartment. {sigh} As soon as we picked them up, they started purring. They were so sweet!

They’ve been through a couple of name changes. The lady who fostered them had given them names. She thought one was a boy and one was a girl, so we gave them boy/girl names. Then, I took a peek at their little behinds. They both looked like boys to me. And, Josh didn’t like the boy name Megan and I had picked, so we gave them each new names.

I took them to the vet on Thursday where they were deemed perfectly healthy – and male. So, meet Finn and Oliver. Finn is the solid orange kitty and Oliver (who will probably get called Ollie quite a bit) is the one with more white on his face and white feet.

Oliver is also the one who likes to suck on people’s ears like a pacifier. Their foster mom said that she read that he does that because he was taken from his mom too soon. We estimate that they were put in the dumpster at about four weeks old and are now ten (almost eleven) weeks. The vet agreed.

They even have their own Instagram page if you’re interested – The Orange Hydra. Because, you know, one orange cat passed away and two more showed up in his place. {grin}

Come back next week when I promise to talk about something other than cats! Until then, have a fantastic weekend! Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there.

    They are too cute. 🙂 My parents got a new kitten this week too (found it in a hay bale my brother bought) – now the kids want a new one. Sooooo not happening! 🙂

    Finn and Oliver are so cute! I too cannot understand how people can be so cruel but am glad to see they now have a safe, loving home.

    I went straight to Instagram to follow their account (love the name!). Well, actually it’s my pug following your kittens; she has her own account, too. 😉
